Tattoo Aftercare Advice
Once you leave the studio, it is your responsibility to ensure that your new tattoo is looked after. Bizzle is no longer responsible for any infection, or problem you may have, if you do not take proper care of it.
If your tattoo has been wrapped in cling film…
Keep your tattoo wrapped for 1-2 hours, then remove the cling film and wash the tattooed area with soap and warm water (avoid heavily fragranced soap) using just your hand - no washcloth. Leave to air dry, or pat dry with a disposable paper towel (e.g. kitchen roll). Do not use your bath towel.
If your tattoo has been covered with “Second Skin”…
Second Skin can be kept on the tattoo for up to seven days. However, it may start to peel off sooner, or you can remove it sooner yourself if you do not like it, or you would just prefer it. If there is an “ink sack” underneath the covering then take it off (in the shower, to avoid spillages). Bizzle recommends keeping the “Second Skin” on until at least the morning after your tattoo.
Once you have removed the cover, wash the tattooed area with soap and warm water (avoid heavily fragranced soap) using just your hand - no washcloth. Leave to air dry, or pat dry with a disposable paper towel (e.g. kitchen roll). Do not use your bath towel.
Once the cover has been removed…
Apply a thin layer of your aftercare product to the tattooed area, making sure there is no cream left on the surface. Do not use Vaseline, Savlon, or any cosmetic creams - we recommend MOA Magic Balm, Butterluxe (both purchasable from Over the Moon Tattoo) or Palmer’s Cocoa Butter (purchasable in most supermarkets or pharmacies).
Apply the aftercare three times a day, for the next 2-3 weeks.
It is OK to shower with your new tattoo, however, do not have a bath, as you shouldn’t fully submerge your new tattoo in water (during the 2-3 week healing process). Ensure to rinse off any shampoo, conditioner, or shower gel you may get on the tattooed area whilst showering.
While healing, the tattoo may develop scabs and become itchy. Do not pick the scabs and do not scratch the tattoo, as this may ruin it. If you need to apply aftercare more than three times a day, to help alleviate the itch, this is fine - just ensure it is a nice thin layer, rubbed all the way in.
Avoid direct sunlight for the initial 2-3 weeks, whilst it is healing.
